Life can get pretty overwhelming sometimes!
With business, work, school, parenthood, adulthood, our personal lives....sometimes, we get so caught up in all of these things it seems life is kicking our ass! So, when you've taken the time to breathe, Read this little list of small acts of self care.......

1. Get some air.
Sometimes all it takes is stepping outside in nature & inhaling some fresh air!
2. A relaxing bath or shower
After a long day of work, business, parenting and more, simply making the time for a nice shower or bath and washing away any negative energy or stress will do the job. It's refreshing !
3. Create.
If you're like me at all and love to create, even taking a few minutes to do something you love helps and is a form of self care. From drawing to music or perfecting any craft you love. Keep working towards what brings you joy.
4. Treat yourself.
Treat yourself ! Literally ! Honestly, I will go so long without getting myself anything. I will even skip out on essentials in order to get my children something they want. But, buy yourself something! Go to the store, or even online, and pick up something you want! The last item I got myself that was non-essential were pumpkins and hay stacks! Fall/Autumn is here and I couldn't resist. It felt good! & it looks good too!
5. Cancel something .
I have been guilty of agreeing to plans or meetings that I honestly did not want to attend or go through with. I honestly don't know why. Sometimes it's that knee jerk reaction amid a good conversation, when plans get brought up out of the blue and your like "Yeah sure, I'm down." yea....cancel that. That is a big form of self care ! Not putting yourself in an awkward position. Not forcing yourself to be around large crowds ( especially if you're an introvert like myself ). You do not have to subject yourself to anything that will make you feel drained, awkward, unwanted or unappreciated simply for the satisfaction or benefit of others. Choose yourself.
6. Journal.
Often times, writing down our feelings help. If you're feeling overwhelmed, I highly recommend writing your feelings down. Also, write down things like lists. If you're going out to the store and forget a lot, it makes the trip easier to make lists. You can also make lists for other things. It gives a sense of organization and readiness.
7. Quiet Time.
Sitting in silence, after a day of chaos...even if only for 5 minutes can help a lot.
8. Meditate.
Meditation helps. It is just as quiet time but still different. I saw a saying before that went similar to "Praying is speaking to God/the Universe (whomever you believe in) and mediation is listening." I really loved that quote and I believe it and keep it with me.
9. Exercise.
I feel so good after a nice workout! Before, I don't have much energy and a lot on my mind. After, I'm energized and feel like I've accomplished something! Once I start I keep setting goals to keep pushing forward and extend my workout. Trust me, it helps!
10. Drink your water.
Water is the best drink in this life. Headache? Drink water. Feeling down? Drink water. Skin problems? Drink water!!! Seriously, research it. So many of the problems we have are from not drinking water or not drinking enough water! And please when you feel thirsty, drink water instead of soda or alcohol or juice. It will make a difference.
With all of my love,
Yanni Jay
