Hi beautiful people ! & welcome back ! While I understand it has been a while, who would I be to make these posts and not practice what I preach ! Lol. Everyone needs time to tend to their mental health when life gets overwhelming. Some of those times, life can be so overwhelming that your mental minute, turns into a mental break! Hey, I promise it works wonders !

Have you ever felt overwhelmed? Ever felt like in the midst of you trying to keep a positive mind, so many things kept happening back to back and you just couldn't understand why? I have. Sometimes, those weapons do feel like they may be prospering a little bit ! But, it is in those moments, you must take accountability for the way you are feeling and make the decision to put a name to your emotions and your mental state.
A while ago, I found myself struggling emotionally, spiritually and mentally. I felt as though my world had come crashing down and I couldn't see a way out of the pain I had become so comfortable in. As time went on, I remained still, while everyone and everything around me continued on. At some point, I became exhausted with feeling the hurt that I felt. Although I knew I could not make the pain go away overnight, I knew if I continued to sit in my sorrows, it would become of me. I refused to allow that to happen.
After making the decision to fight through my mental and emotional struggles and traumas, I was finally able to put a name to what I was experiencing. Depression had come for a visit but, I refused to let it reside here.
My days would consist of productivity and something I would like to call " A Mental Minute". A mental minute is something I had come up with, in order to navigate through my days when I found myself randomly breaking down emotionally.
What does a Mental Minute look like ?
There are different ways to go about your Mental Minute ! Here are a few ways I'd go about mine :
60 seconds of slow breathing
Write down in your journal the feelings you are experiencing in that moment.
Write down in your journal 3 goals you wish to reach in the next 6 months!
Get some fresh air
SING YOUR HEART OUT!
I will NOT lie...Singing my heart out to some good music is probably my favorite task in a mental moment. FIRST, I make sure to check in with myself and put a name to how I am feeling and based upon that I can correctly choose which task will be best suitable for my mental moment!
Remember, feeling overwhelmed is normal. Needing to take a mental minute or a break is normal. Prioritizing yourself in the name of emotional and mental health is normal. You are not alone. I hope you decide to take a mental health minute today.
With Love,
Yanni Jay

Breathing exercises definitely helps!
