Dear Self,

What if I told you, that no matter what we've been through or what someone has done to us, we are the only persons accountable for our healing?

Often times, we go through life holding on to so much baggage. From our childhood through our teenage years to our adulthood. Experiencing many different forms of hurt, and never taking the time to heal from these things. It can all build up and become extremely detrimental to our mental health. This, is the start of self care. Healing.

What is healing? Why is it so important?

Healing is the process of becoming whole and healthy. Healing is important because, continuing on in life after being hurt, injured or broken in any capacity is damaging to the mind, soul & body. Not only can it be physically damaging, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually damaging as well.

Healing is not always physical, again. It is not always quick, and many times, it is never easy. Every single day, there are people fighting wars we do not know of, continuing on their journey of healing from their life experiences. You will not always be able to see the journey because many times, it is more internal than anything.

| Here's an activity....

Take a sheet of notebook paper & write a letter to your younger self. In the letter, be open, be vulnerable, be apologetic. Allow yourself to feel. Remember, this is a letter to your younger self. So while writing the letter, you may remember anything you went through at the age or stage in your life, give advice, give love, let it all out.

This is your start to healing.

....okay all, we'll talk again soon, I hope the letter goes well. The next step in this healing journey is an eye opener.

With all my love, Yanni Jay ...
